Brief history of Familia de Fe and Pastor Walter

Pastor Walter has completed 2 years of a 5 year commitment to the Twin Cities Presbytery.  His title is Organizing Pastor.

Pastor Walter had to flee Bolivia because the government felt that his beliefs were a threat to the country. The American Embassy helped him to get out of Bolivia and go to Costa Rica to study. From Costa Rica, he went to Valley Presbyterian Church in Scottsdale Arizona in the early 1990’s. Serving at Familia de Fe is Pastor Walter’s first time serving a total Hispanic population.

While the language that is spoken is Spanish, the members come from many countries and from many different cultures. As a pastor, he serves his congregation in many every day needs, from going with them to get their driver’s license to helping with problems that a child may be having in school, to helping a family who is dealing with a home foreclosure.

He also serves on a National Commission, dealing with Latino people.  This Commission is headed by Senator Spector. Pastor Walter has found that working with Hope and working with the 10 different nationalities at Familia de Fe is a learning process.
Pastor Walter feels that the OCMC is a good location for his congregation.

His members come from all over the Twin Cities. It is a challenge for Pastor  Walter to reach out to others.  It takes time to build trust and to build relationships.  He spends time visiting the homes of those who are interested in joining the church.Right now, Familia de Fe has about 50 members.

They hope to reach 100 members in the next 2 ½ years.Their Wednesday evening  service is becoming more popular.  This service is more of a learning environment with Sunday morning being a time of celebration.  On some Saturdays,   they have family events. Pastor Walter has completed 2 years of a 5 year commitment to the Twin Cities Presbytery.  His title, for now, is Organizing Pastor.    they have family events
